Commercial Kitchen Hood Controls

In addition to laboratory safety equipment, TEL has developed a controller for commercial kitchen exhaust hoods and air supply fans with a goal of maximizing energy efficiency. Click here for more information on the TEL approach to kitchen hood exhaust control.

Features:

  1. When the control system is on, the exhaust fan operates at a minimum speed to exhaust proper CFM. The system is based on the difference in temperature between the kitchen and the exhaust duct. The differential figure is used to control the speed of the exhaust and air supply fans to minimize energy consumption.

  2. TEL can build the system into a control panel to be installed in a restaurant or prepare elements for a kitchen hood manufacturer to integrate with their own control panel.

  3. The controller can be configured in the factory, but it also can be created with a display/control panel for adjustments by restaurant staff.

  4. The unit can be turned on/off manually or configured with a seven-day timer for pre-programmed on/off cycles. The on-off switch can be located near the hood or elsewhere in the restaurant, such as a manager’s office.

  5. Can be fully integrated to a building management system.

  6. An optional infared fume detector beam inside the hood will detect sudden plumes and switch the exhaust to purge mode until the smoke clears.

  7. A manual emergency boost button is available to shift the fan speed to maximum. The boost time is user-defined in 30-second increments.

  8. Night setback input is available.

  9. Monitoring software is available for data logging.
